This necklace is a whimsical yet edgy and feminine piece with natural tones, perfect for layering with other necklaces. It has been hand beaded in our Byron Bay studio on the East Coast of Australia, and each skull pendant has been intricately carved by hand from deer antler.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE For eternity Buddhist Monks have used skull prayer beads during meditation to monitor their chant... Traditionally the skull is a representation of the impermanence of life and the limitation of human knowledge and understanding. The use of the skull mala beads in meditation is said to beckon the reflection of life, and the inevitability of death... in doing so, one is said to embrace life to the fullest and be filled with compassion.
PLEASE NOTE: We source our deer antler from a lady who lives in the Blackhills of South Dakota. For the past 20+ years she has worked closely with a group of Sioux and Lakota Native Americans who hunt and gather expired animals (namely buffalo and deer). These native animals have either become victim to road-kill, died of starvation during the winter months, or have been hunted for food. All our products come in either an envelope style gift bag, or gift box. FREE SHIPPING for all orders over $200.
